Apple CarPlay

Hi there,

I currently have a Cupra 290 (2019) and with it giving me the ability to go onto the CarPlay connection however whenever I plug my phone in it doesn't pair up to my iPhone even though it charges. Ive plugged it in every port I can find but still no response to the CarPlay.

Does anyone know if there's a solution or advice to this

Morning!

Both ports should work.

Have you tried the following:

1. Waiting until the system has completely booted up before plugging the phone in (I’ve found that it doesn’t always connect if plugged in before booted up… my 2017 Octavia, 2021 Arteon and current Cupra were all the same!)
2. Cleaned the Lightning/USB-C port on the phone - you’d be surprised how much pocket fluff gets in there and gives intermittent connections!
3. Different cable - especially worth checking if Lightning as there’s a chip in there to authenticate the device, and they don’t always work if it’s cheap nasty cable. Try a genuine Apple cable, or one with with the MFI (Made For iPod) logo.
4. Different phone
5. Checked the phone responds when plugged in and a message along the lines of allowing access to CarPlay when screen is locked pops up on the phone.
6. On your phone, check Settings>General>CarPlay and see if the phone has registered the car.
7. Not sure if the car needs CarPlay unlocking by a dealer, my Octavia did, but the infotainment showed it was locked, yours looks unlocked, so this could be a red herring.
