are cupras intercooled as standard?

hi guys,

ive just spent half hour searching (and getting waylayed looking at pics of others cars ) i cant find a definitive answer to the title?

is it just cupra r's that are intercooled as standard? or is the cupra too?

Yes both the Cupra and Cupra R Ibiza mk3 are intercooled as standard, they both have the same SMIC.

Spot on.
The power difference between the Cupra and Cupra R is just achieved by a different ECU map.

They both just had the K03 turbos.

are the fmic easy ish to fit? im by far a mechanic but if its easy i dont mind having a bash!

on a side note the ibiza one is tiny!! i reckon my vans got a bigger ic lol. why is the golf bigger when its the same engine isnt it?

like said, you will see more than 180hp with a map. The only benefit the cupra R will have over the 'standard' cupra is that it has the Brembo setup (brakes) up front. The hp's which are possible with the 2 are identical. As said only the ECU is different in the 2 but as soon as you map it, the ECU will change as well...so eventhough the R has 24hp more to start with this won't show after mapping both.

get yourself one...you'll be absolutely thrilled!

by the way just because your van has 170hp doesn't mean its quicker than the standard 156hp cupra...it'll kill it!

sorry mate, i meant my car has 170bhp but its naturally aspirated and im desperate for a turboed motor!

my van is a crap vauxhall combo dti thing which i hate and hope the cambelt breaks on it
