Are my doors supposed to lock on their own?

OK people, 99 Toledo 110TDI Sport, she has always done this since \i bought her, if I unlock with the plipper but don,t do anything (ie open boot or doors) she will lock up again after a short time has elapsed. But the other day.....after some heavy rain.......as I drove off......she locked up around me.!!! as if I had hit the locking button, all doors locked simultanesously. Is this an early symptom of something going wrong? and what, if anything can I do about it?

Sounds pretty normal to me if you've got the anti-hijack feature enabled. It should lock automatically when you hit 10-15mph (can't remember which), but if it annoys you too much then you can disable the function with vagcom.

don't know bout the Tolly, but the Ibiza came with selective opening, and auto-closure.
basically, 1 press of the button unlocks driver's door, and turns off alarm. double press unlocks whole car including boot.
if doors/boot are not opened within 30secs, car will re-lock itself.
once key in ignition and engine started, car locks itself at 10mph (anti-jacking) in order to stop people jumping in the car at traffic lights etc.
when the ignition is turned off, the drivers door unlocks, or you can unlock the rest of the car by hitting the "unlock" button on drivers door.

each door can be individually opened by pulling the release handle twice.

confusing, but i hope this helps :)

Thank you people, I did not know that my Tolly had this "anti Hi-jack" function, so I must have enabled it by mistake. I do have the button on the drivers door panel which allowsme to lock all of the doors whenever I want. So are we saying that if I hit this buttontwice, it enables this "over 10mph anti hi-jack device, or have I enabled it some other way.? I,m glad it is fitted, of course, but have trained myself to hit the button manually almost as soon as I get underway. Not really much call for it in Swindon, (well maybe some parts) but stillglad I have it - I might have to go to Southall sometime!!! Oops was that not PC? maybe, but its the truth, and truth is universal.

From the sounds of things, it looks like by locking the doors manually he's just never noticed it before.

A real good point mr Coyote, I have always done it manually as I had a Rover 600SDI before and had gotten into the habit of always hitting the lock button as soon as I got underway, so maybe I never noticed before. Another Question for you all. I do have the window roll up function if I hold the Key in the lock, is there anyway to do this with the plipper? mine doesn,t, it seems to me that it would be most effective because if you think about it you are always some way from the car when you think???did I close all the windows?
