Hi guys, do i have to remove the roof lining to take the ariel off? I unscrew it but for the love of god wont come off, ive tugged and pulled but it wont come off!

Help??

Yes u can , completely unscrew from base unit and pull at it very hard , the aerial will come out , changed mine today .

I took mine off last year. Unscrew it fully hold the base firmly, then tug side to side while pulling. It's difficult because its got a flat bottom to stop it coming off

Ill go out n try again once its stopped rainning but it just felt it wasnt budging the roof started to lift lmao

My roof was lifting but its important to keep the base held down firmly. Good luck matey

I don't know if there's actually any sort of technique to it, but what seems to work for me is to unscrew it as far as possible (anti-clockwise), then twist clockwise a few turns whilst still pulling and it comes off :)

sometimes it comes off in a second.. other times you'll be there for a while until you give up and walk away cursing.

1 hand on the base, 1 hand pulling towards you rather than up usually works for me.

Well i managed to pull it off held the base down and just pulled like bad, its got like a crown on the end probs to stop it coming off if it ever came unscrewed, but bloody hell never knew it would be in that good, got shouted at by someone in the street thinking i was attempting to nick lmao

glad this was posted...because i was going to post the same thing!

i've tried countless times now to get it off so i can change to a stubby! ill just keep going then!

I did the same on mine, wasn't that bad. Problem was the Golf 5h@rkfin aerial's connector was different to mine. Bought a a cheap aerial off ebay, same issue so gave up and bought a Citroen c2 stubby one instead.

if you're interested I bought my stubby aerial off ebay for £7.59 off "The Aerial Shop" and it was called OEM Short Stubby Car Aerial - Fits Seat Leon, Ibiza, etc
