Looking for some comparisons.

my mileage is 17,000 and the brake warning light came on, i called Cupra assist and they sent out the mechanic he looked at the brakes and told me I need new discs and pads on the front, Is it usual for them to both go with such low mileage?

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a Cupra Ateca vz3 with the 370mm brembos and done about 16k miles and same thing happened to me. I got told by Cupra that I needed new disks and pads. I got quoted £1500! I don't know if this is a common issue with these brakes or I was just over using them.

I Have discussed with my garage where I got the car saying that if they are going that quick there must be something wrong with them.
the garage confirmed that Cupra knows there is a problem and that the breaks and discs are wearing through very quickly.
they agreed to pay 90% of the disk and pad change on this occasion.
So it may be worth seeing if you can get the same at your garage, I have asked them to explain what will happen going forward and I am waiting for a reply.

Having picked up my six months / 4,000 miles old Ateca VZ3 with Brembo front brakes last Friday, I'd like to get a feel for when I'm likely to need new pads and discs.

Historically, I'm quite kind on brakes and easily get 40k miles from fronts, even with race pads as I've had in previous cars.

What's concerning is that I've been getting a screech on light application, i.e.. when creeping forward in slow traffic, although I *think* this is only when the brakes are cold.

Is this typical of the Brembo setup? I never experienced it in 45k+ miles in my two previous non-Brembo Ateca VZs.

The Brembo brakes are very noisy.
Cheers, James.

Is that in terms of general use, or occasional screechy; a build up of dust or not perhaps bedded in well? Maybe they need a really good clean?

Can't be all bad though as, from some research last night the Brembo setup, pads at least, is common to other VAG models e.g. Audi RS3.

They tend to squeak/squeal intermittently.

They definitely work well though.

It's interesting that VWG seem to be fitting Akebono brakes to the newer generation of performance cars now.

^^^^ Top notch. Many thanks for the reassurance, James.

I'm back at the dealer I bought it from this afternoon, and they're going to check them over, all the same.

Brembo brakes like those fitted to the Ateca have always been good, the compromise seems to be that you have to put up with some quirks.

I like quirks; that's why I ran a TDI Yeti, tuned to vRS spec for ten years. Had vRS 312mm discs with Ferodo DS2500 pads.
