Hi, Brands all booked for 3rd October :)

I went with a SACH 4 paddle racing clutch and pressure plate. It's awesome, but not really for road / daily use, but my car is not set up for that anyway. I'll post the part numbers on here if anyone's interested.

Why didn't I stick with the original black diamond stage two clutch, which has been refurbished? well as the car owes me so much money and I can never sell it and I didn't want the car taking up a garage ramp for any more time (and money) I thought, go with the best I could get and as quick as possible (EuroCarparts had in them in stock!).

I will point out here that my gearbox seal leaked oil on to the clutch surfaces which is why I had clutch slip and nothing to do with the clutch itself. I cannot recommend Black Diamond enough, I'd have one on my road car in an instant (i've had three in the past in diesels) and their customer service was second to none, they refurbed (in fact the friction plate is new!) for free my clutch despite it not being a fault of their product, where do you get that kind of service in this day and age!!

It does mean I have a good as new clutch spare now and will sell it if anyone wants it for £220 inc postage (its a £360 kit). It's good for up to 300 BHP cars and is as smooth as a standard clutch. PM me if interested.

Attended Oulton Park this week. 9 miles from my house so that’s a bonus! Finally sorted overheating issues out. Fitted two new front boots & my rear BAF strut brace too.
Car performed perfectly all day.
My only gripe is I’ve warped another set of front discs so I need to look at getting some ventilation to the discs to help keep them cool. And some better front discs too.
Car runs 286bhp and partially stripped out & surprises a lot of other cars with how well it goes!

Very similar to mine.
What discs are you using? Pads?
I warped my last set.

I’ve got ferodo ds1.11 and Brembo discs using the standard Calipers and 5.1 brake fluid.
I think I need some ducting to help keep them cool as I give them a right hammering around the track!

Tarrox and goodspeed are worth a look.
I use black diamond drilled n grooved but have warped a set at Bedford. May have also been due to the pad and getting pick up. From ds2500 Now y ut sing Carbotech xp10 s and no problems so far.

I ran EBC discs for 2 years and had no issues. I don’t think I’ll have brembo again. Probably look to Tarox.
Ideally I’d like 6/8 pots and 2 piece discs upfront & use the standard LCR brembo calipers on the rear, funds allowing obviously

@vwtrev runs Tarrox .
He can give you the heads up on which to go for. I’ve been in his car on track and it brakes ridiculously hard.
I was bloomin’ impressed.

Thanks Sparkie :)

I'll be the 1st to admit that I thought running plain discs was best for friction area, etc. and Pads was teh most important but after being recommended Tarox F2000 I must admit I couldn't believe how much better my brakes were. I originally ran XP10's with Plain Pagid standard discs and thought the braking was good and the pads lasted around 4000 miles, but then I went to DS2500 and the Tarox F2000 Discs and the braking is even better and I don't suffer overheating fade at all (side note: I have witnessed fade with this setup, where the brakes have got too cold on a long straight like Snetterton). I ran this setup at Thruxton in 35 degree air temperature and didn't get fade. I'm on my second set of DS2500's as the 1st only lasted 1000 miles approx. but that was due to a sticking piston (wore out one pad really quick, I still have three with decent pad depth). Will be looking at XP10's or 12's next as intrigued as to how they will go with my Tarox discs.

Yeah that was a quick eBay search.
The Peugeot gti’s at Oulton Park near me run the tarox setup and they get hammered and the instructors are very impressed with them

My last track day of the year, was 22 Nov at Oulton Park. I can say the weather was awful but I still had fun.

The car needed the Geo looking at, I run silver projekt top mounts.. so in it went and was told the front arm bushes were dangerous so ended up with getting them polybushed.

Car back two days before and with 2.6 degrees of camber up front it drove quite civilised on the road.

On track it felt great and I just wish the weather was better but hey ho.

Only trouble was I blew a boost hose, managed to fix it and continue the day.

Couple of pics for those interested

I've just booked my first track day for the 1st March 2020 at Brands Hatch. I'll be recording it all and making a nice video if anyone wants to come along. It's a novice day so may be slower paced than general track days.

It's with MSV, I don't want to post on here as it's for another forum but if you google "msv track days discount code" and check the first result you can get 10% off ;) I paid £152 in the end as my wife will be a passenger too.
The more the merrier :)
