Hi All,

I've searched around the forum and found a few threads that mention issues with the aux audio input on mk2 leon's but I haven't seen any solutions so I just wondered if anyone could help:

I have a 3.5mm from my iPod connected to the aux input in the centre console but I all I can hear is white noise. I have made sure the aux setting is 'on' inside of the program menu so I have no idea why I'm not hearing anyting. The connector clicks into place fine and doesn't feel loose so I can't see any issues with the port itself.

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

Has the head unit been changed? The newer VW and SEAT Media systems need the AUX connection pins to be changed

Cheers for the reply J400uk.

I only bought the car a month ago but it just looks like the factory unit and it has the aux options in the menu. I am using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm but I wondered if I got an iPod data transfer to 3.5mm if it would make any difference?

3.5mm to 3.5mm cable should work fine but iPod data transfer to 3.5mm may not. What year is the car, presume 2007 or 2008? Does the head unit look like this?

Yeah it's a 2007 Leon FR TFSI and the head unit looks just the same as the one in the picture and the aux input is just next to the handbrake. I've tested the cable just now in the house with some speakers and it worked fine so i'm not sure what is going on.

All I can think of them is the previous owner may have fitted a new stereo and changed the aux wiring to work with that, and then before selling put back in the original head unit without correcting the wiring. Might be worth removing it and check the quadlock wiring against the diagram on back of head unit.

Cheers mate, I spoke to the previous owner and apparently the car used to have a CD changer in the boot. I'm guessing this could be the issue, maybe some wires need changing back?

Yes that is probably your answer as the CD changer uses the same connection as the AUX input. You'll need to pull your radio out and make sure the AUX wiring is going to the right pins on the quadlock.

This is the pin out for the stock head unit in a 07/ 08 Leon:

Cheers I'll have a look, so the chances are the aux wiring has been put into the cd changer but after the cd changer has been removed it hasn't been put back where it came from?

I think they share the same wiring, so the AUX would have been removed and replaced by the CD changer but it hasn't been put back.
