wouldnt we all ! if only it was cheaper !!!!

Nope. Didn't like it. Goes and stops OK but leather looks awful and it is just too dull to look at. I would rather save the money and have the Cupra given the choice. It is just too expensive for what it is.

Golf Plus Points;

Centre part of dash is nice
Wheels and stock exhaust tone
DSG Option

Golf Bad Points;

MK6 Golf is due - MK5 GTi has been around for almost 4 years. The Ed 30 is not limited run
Standard brakes are less substantial than Cupra - Same as normal GTi.

Leon Plus Points;

Seats and general comfort - Seats in the Cupra are superior to the Ed30 seats.
Still "new" ish and therefore rare.
Brakes are ace.

Leon Bad Points;

Centre Part of dash
Ride is a little uncomposed

Both cars fall into the same road tax bracket and performance is pretty well identical. Pay your money and take your choice.

Thanks for all your comments, I have made my decision....

Just placed an order for an ed30 5door in silver with an armrest.

I really liked the leon from the outside, especially the front end, but the inside was a let down. Dash apart i felt the driving positon was seriously compromisied. I can see why they sell well - very very nice looking motor, but for me the golf was a better buy....& a better deal

Had the opportunity to try the dsg box too, now that just blew me away - I was seriously tempted...but it did leave me feeling a little left out - I'm still keen on changing gears myself rather than flapping a paddle, just seemed a little bit clinical....that said it has given me a target for manual changes....

Again thanks for all the comments, it's really good to get other peoples views before committing....

Nice choice fella.. I've ordered mine with DSG, mainly because of the milage I do for work and it's not as slow and boring as a normal Auto. Will miss manual at times though i'm sure..
Enjoy the motor though.. When are you expecting delivery, did they say?

Estimated 10days to the dealer, but in my excitement i didn't ask for a delivery date, plus 3 years serviceing for £200 is an absolute steal....

I think if your doing a lot of miles than the dsg is a top buy - the speed of the changes was unbelieveable - I've only ever driven a traditional auto before, but there was just no comparison, I found a slight delay when it dropped 2 gears with the foot to the floor (5th to 3rd), but still quicker than I would ever manage in a manual.

White is a top colour - i'd have liked white but the misus put her foot down - my car but she gets to pic the colour....When is yours due?

Yep absolutely right, vw stock...I'd have liked the Nav but I had to balance that cost against the back doors...

i dont think you are losing out on the sat nav, its not upto much as far as i know, better off with a new tom tom (can be had for under £100 if you shop around)

plus you can always fit the ipod adapter into the armrest afterwards.
