Are all backboxes similar in size and fitment where they join, kind of a dumb question i know but my exhaust system (blueflame dp/cat, scorpion cat back) is welded into one piece (only the join from the dp to the cat back) and i kind of want rid of the big 4" tail pipe on my scorpion for a twin pipe one. Theres a sebring one on ebay but im not too sure on the make as havent heard anything about them and a search didnt really reveal, but how easy do you reckon it would be to swap them over without messing about with the whole cat back?

Scorpion do a catback system which is twin pipe but i cant find anywhere that sell just the backbox

Hoping someone can help before I have to get underneath and measure it lol

I dont think its too loud, My mrs has it on hers and I have a twin pipe (3'' pipes) on mine which is Scorpion too. That is louder than hers!

If you want quieter and twin pipe your best doing miltek, its sooo much quieter than scorpion.

I couldnt see there being a problem but dont hold me to that. Id imagine at worst you may have to have a tiny bit of work to make it fit properly.

I was asking a similar question about bolting a downpipe to my scorpion cat back, turns out I may just need a bracket at worst for it to fit.

If you want quieter deffo stay away from the scorpion twin pipe, its loud mate even when trying to 'stealth' it down my street! lol

pop, pop pop

mine needed a bit of chopping to fit, and came undone a couple of times, after a couple weeks and rattled underneath the gearbox since having it welded ive had no problems though

Just thinking about it, You should have no problems fitting another backbox.

If anymake back box can fit the standard pipes of the exhaust on a mk3 ibiza then any back box should be able to fit to your scorpion. After all they might be different backboxes but they must all be the same size to fit the standard pipes in the 1st place

Know what i mean?

Yeah i know what you mean, but the scorpion cat back was supposed to fit straight onto a standard downpipe, which it did...... and the blueflame is supposed to fit onto a standard cat back........so theoretically they should mate but it still needed a bit of messing about to sort out lol

actually to edit, i think the blueflame is only designed to fit the blueflame cat back, but i was told it would fit

You would have to check the length of the new backbox or it may end up being too short, i think theres quite a size diference between the diferent exhaust manufacturers. Id stick with scorpian so you'l get a near perfect fit. I personally like the tone they give, ive got the 5"slash an it sounds great

yeah i suppose, but i prefer the look of a twin aswell, or even an oval compared to the tuner4, just looks a bit well, not chavvy but like you're trying to make it as loud as possible like you see on 1.2 corsas

He doesnt want a loud exhaust, thats why he wants rid. Ive got the twin pipe scorpion on mine and its pretty loud, pops all the time when you boot it:D

sorry to be a little OT but you may be able to help. i have a cupra back box and piping and am wanting to put it on my 1.4. (my old one was on its way out and i got a bargin from a wrecked cupra).

basically i need to cut a hole in my rear bumper to make it fit as the 1.4 bumper does not have the hole ready for the exhaust like the cupra....

would you be able to measure for me the dimensions of the cut out and where it is placed on the bumper ? i would jyst cut it myself without measuring some one elses but i want this job to be very neat. if you could help that would be great :)
Thanks

swapping scorpion for scorpion

it should be the same size from the cat back shouldnt it?
I really would prefer the twin stw pipes but dont want to buy another back box if it wont fit, but surely it would be too much effort for scorpion to produce 2 different sets of cat back pipes just for the sake of a tailpipe design?

Mine is welded where it meets the downpipe so i cant change anything else further up :(

hi, another line one thought for you may be the jetex rear box it's very quiet and it comes in twin 3'' or an oval. i have the twin 3'' because it was on the car when i bought it, it would probably not have been my first choice but i've had on issues with it so i've stuck with it. but i may consider changing it in the future for something a little louder. also a shop near me used to be a dealer for sebring from what i've seen the build quality was shockingly bad, but it was a few years ago so they may have improved now.

Thanks for your input, I was looking at a sebring backbox on ebay the other day and I think it might be worth a try, but my concern is that because its not going on standard pipes from the catback, (its going on the scorpion catback pipes as they are welded from the downpipe) it limits my choices down to a scorpion backbox only. But I'm just hoping that the stw will slot straight on instead of the tuner4
