The Audi overhaul and build.
As some of you may be aware me and Tim (Ronin225) purchased an Audi between us that needs some TLC. Here is what we done yesterday:
Arrived bright and early to get cracking. Made a cuppa and set to it.
We'd already spent an evening taking the front end for accessibility so we didn't have to struggle with that on Saturday.
Before the front came off.
With the front off.
As the sharp eyed readers will notice, the engine is sitting very low, the monkey handed ******* ape that started the work on the engine had absolutely no idea and had ripped parts out left right and centre with no regard to how anything would go back together!
This is how he left it, cut cambelt, all reservoirs removed, engine mount off and bolts in every bore, complete ass job!
Anyway, before I get side tracked into abuse mode.......
PhillC then arrived (yep Phills still around, just in his comfy beemer) with the engine hoist, enthusiasm and knowledge to really get down and dirty with getting the old engine out, so after another cuppa me and Phill started taking everything out/off while Tim started building the new engine.
We knew the engine had dropped a rod but at this point we wernt sure why or how bad it had let go. After a few hours of graft and a bacon sarnie

we were ready to completely remove the old engine and heres what we found...
A gaping hole on the front of the block from cylinder 2....
AND a hole on the back from cylinder 3!!
A little shocked we all stood, pointed and laughed for a few minutes with random neighbours coming to look too, then back to it.
Tim had been prepping the new block with a new pickup pipe and getting the new timing tensioner etc bolted on so now was time to get the head on and time it all up.
We finally managed to get it all on the hoist and mount the gearbox and transfer box back on
And finally got it all mounted back in the car!
That's an engine out, rebuilt and put back in in under 12 hours on a driveway! A hard days graft but an awesome result!
Phill then headed off home so Me and Tim decided the day was done, called my misses for a change of clothes and headed out for some grub.
I will leave you all with this amazing shot of Tim just to wind him up, in my true style I was grabbing photos all day and caught this corker somewhere in the latter stages of the day........Tim Cragmire!
That's it guys, its been a long weekend.
A huge thanks has to go to Phill for all of his
help and wisdom, the leons gone but he just cant
help but get stuck in!!
