Battery draining and key not responding

Hi all..
Mk2 Leon Cupra..
This morning the battery was weak on start up..
Later during the day I realized the remote does not open or close the car, so I'm unlocking and locking manually with the key..
Tried to find a solution but no luck.
Even the synchronized steps in my manual does not work.

So Im quite sure the battery is on its way out.. But why the remote function?
I did put in a new battery and still no luck.
If I press any button on the remote the red lights flashes..

Any help PLEASE!

Scan for faults, possibly a broken wire in the doors causing the can bus system to stay awake and drain the battery.

Just to round off..

Got a new key fob / remote, programmed it and everything works fine.

Suppose the battery caused a malfunction.
