Bent Rods?

Hi,

I have been having problems with my LCR and a ticking noise. Thought it could be the Cam chain tensioner so it was in at the garage today to have a look and try to find out what was wrong. Got the call to say the tensioner is fine but piston 1 looked a little lower than the others so could be a bent rod?

Do you reckon could this cause the 'ticking' from under the rocker?

Been reading Danny_Lad bent rod thread and symptoms seem the same.

yeh it can cause a noise from the rocker cover mate. that doesnt sound good if it is a bent rod. thats definatley going to hurt the wallet:doh:

i have never experienced it personally so hard to say but i would have thought so. One thing is for sure that if a rod is bent and it completley lets go you will definatley know about it. ie piston meets valves.

Its strange, the car has been driving fine I was just annoyed with the ticking which is why it went to the garage to be checked out.
I get it back tomorrow but guess i should avoid driving it until he can have it back to have a proper look at the internals

Plus the end of the rod attached to the crank will spin round and smash a hole in the block
