I am thinking to mount 268 shrick cams to my car. But not the exhaust one. As i read on the forum, exhaust cam with standard ecu doesn't give too much power.
I am finished doing with some polish work. Straight pipe and cold air intake is mounted too.
But next step is mounting 268 shrick cam (not the exhaust one, i don't know the other's name in english sorry about that :)), chip tuning and raceland headers. But i can only find raceland headers from U.S. And the shipping cost too much from there. I'll contunue to look from Europe.
But my main question is, which chip is the best for a car at this specifications. I watched a video on youtube of a car, which have Garlock Chip on it. It seems good. But when i try to google about it, all sources about it was in German. But i don't know any German :) I need your help about this issue. Where can i find this EPROM and how much does it costs?

Thanks.

Hi

Garlock really knows, what he is doing. He can do a personal setup for you, but his standardchip is great and works with 286 cams. There are performance charts in the german forum and you will see seats with the Garlock chip @~170HP.
(But the ABF got from factory 150-160HP)

I´m german and bought the Garlock Chip. You will get more HP, but what is more important, that the ABF really reacts better on accelerating and needs less gasoline.

If you need more information you can contact me. Maybe i can bought one for you.

Greetings

I read the 268 Shrick gives the best performance for the ABF with standart ECU. Does 286's give more power?
I couldn't find things about Garlock on Ebay. I'd be really appriciated if u can help me about it.
Do u know the prices of standart and personal map?

268 cams is the limit on standard management due to not having much parameters to alter to get the emissions down for the UK regulations.

286 cams on standard induction/air intake is just way too big duration of cam! I'm running Kent 286 cams I think with throttle bodies!!!

Never heard of this Garlock so can't give advise on that one.

Emission is not a problem in Turkey. The only criteria for me is the best performance.
Also, Kent cams are getting produced in Turkey. Prices are much cheaper if i buy it from the fabric in Turkey.

Still think that 286 cams are too wild of a cam for standard intake!! I found with 268 on standard induction and ecu the power would kick in at 4000rpm, the engine sound would even change note (bit like vtec) and would pull nicely to 7200rpm with the rev limit raised of course!

I'll second Dave's comments - I have his old 268 cams in my Cordy and there is a kick around 4000 rpm (although I've retained the original red line at 6900).

I think you ideally need a tailored map to your car to make the most of the mods you've made. Dave and I both went to Stealth Racing here in the UK to have ours done. I appreciate that isn't much use to you in Turkey but you must be able to find some recommendations from the VW scene in Turkey.

I´m sorry ! Of course i meant 268, it was just a misspelling.

You shouldn´t drive more than 268er cams on the ABF.
You can drive 268 well, but your idle will be a bit uneven.

Garlock is very famous, cause of his chip for the ABF. He´s a really "nerd" (in a positive way). The Chip will cost about 200-250€ and it is every penny worth.

Here is a picture from a stock abf with garlock chip:

And this one is with chip, 260er cams, sport exhaust, 100psi catalysator

He is always improving his chip, on the german forum you can read about his chip and the comments of the guys, who bought it.

Garlock said, you will get about 180HP by installing his chip with 268er cams.

Just write him a mail.
He will tell you what to do.
You must give him the number of your motor control unit and he will tell you
what kind of chip do you need and how to install it. It is very easy.
