Hi guys , Can anyone tell which are the best disc's and pads for my LCR grooved drilled plan ?
Mine were replaced with grooved b4 i bought it and the rear is wrong direction
Cheers Joe
get some brembo grooved discs and some ferroda ds 2500's pads. they are absolutely awesome.
uprate the fluid to a racing brake fluid and you will not be dissapointed. i have standard discs with ferrodo pads along with the ate racing brake fluid and could not believe how good it got.all on the front i might add.
i've got some grooved crn discs. origional ebc i think. Service wasn't the best but these grooved disc seem ok. 8 grooves max! they put 20 in as a default which looks silly. dont be getting the drilled ones. they warp!
With the discs on the wrong side you have little or no braking, it happend on my 1st car, some numpty put the discs on the wrong side, swapped them and they seemed ok then, Id do for drilled discs and ferodo ds.
Discs can be either side if the internal venting allows this.
Some have internal venting that is not direction dependant
Some have venting that is direction dependant
This is the important thing.
If it the internal venting allows either it is as above depending on how you like the braking, aggressive or normal
just to add i know some people recommend drilled discs, but as far as ive researched and studied thermodynamics at uni and based on some computer live calculations a drilled disc can result in hair line fractures round the out edge of the drilled hole. this is due to the temperature rising so steeply when braking hard which then cools quickly and contracts. resulting in small cracks. personally i would not recommend unless its of the best material out there . for peace of mind i'd always go for grooved or solid aiming to use a decent make. hope that helps ,
