Best lowering springs for high motorway mileage

I'm looking in to buying some lowering springs for my 1.8TSI Cupra 6P as it sits way too high as standard - However, I do a lot of motorway miles (40 miles per day), some city driving as well as parking in a multi-storey car park which is pretty steep for work.

I'm looking for a decent drop 20-40mm, however I'd like to keep the ride quality the same as it is now (or as close to). I've only heard of people running h&r on the 6P however I'm sure others will be running different.

Any experience/recommendations would be appreciated, doesn't have to be on a Cupra 6P or a Cupra at all for that matter.

Yep I was thinking this the other day. But I don't think I wanna go

Coilovers as the mag dampers seem to work quite well

Just a slight drop as I find there's a bit of pitching under haRd braking

But yeah I would like to keep the same ride comfort too. Maybe similar spring rate as standard but slight lower.

I've seen those vw racing line ones for 1.4 tsi which sound like they might be good as they match them to dampers not sure if they do ones

For 1.8 tsi though unless the polo ones would fit?

And I thought the platform was 6J? Or is it 6P?

Yeah I'm not going to go for coilovers for the same reason, plus I don't fancy spending £500-£1000

I've heard people talk about the VWR's but I've never looked into them properly, interested to see what others are running and how they're finding them in the sort of driving conditions I mentioned.

6J is essentially the same shell, 6P is the 1.8TSI and I believe the face lifted interior/exterior (DRL's, larger screen, digital speedo display etc). However I could be wrong about the latter.

Yeah I'd be interested in what people are running. Might have a peek on

Polo gti forum as thst has been out longer I think in the 1.8 form

I'm guessin it's pretty much the same. If you find anything be

interesting see what people are running. Could maybe ring awesome

This week so see what they say? ;):)

I got in touch with Awesome and they recommended the HR 25/40mm for the 6P, it's what I was going to go with anyway, heard that they're quite harsh though so still wondering which would be best

I spoke to awesome today too. Booked in for stage 1 apr:D :

He said that a lot of polo lads have gone with the vw racingline ones

He said the ride will be more crashy/ bouncey round town at slow speed

As he said cars not heavy enough to compress the springs so it bounces. I would imagine the hr spring are worse as they are lower.

Also said more prone to bottoming out over bumps at slower speed

He said cheap coilover won't cut It on some thing so new

And recommended kw3s or street ones but they come at cost.

Still unsure if I want a bouncy ride

Nice! I really wanna go down the APR route however I'm too scared to void warranty

How old is your car? Weird how we were recommended different setups for the same car on the same day?

Yeah I'm not planning on going for the cheapest by any means, I want a nice drop but want to keep it as close to standard ride quality as possible. Y

After reading some of your link and some other google searches I think the VWR's are coming first for me so far

Yeah I'm worried about warrany too it's a 16 plate. But gonna try it for 30 days

See if I think it's worth having it on. But you can send it in to them to flash back to stock at cost of about 30+vat each time which I though

Would be worth it if you did need any thing to be covered on warranty . Main problem would be clutch. I know on previous gen of this engine the chain tensioner was a weak point I think I'm sure they've sorted it though unless sme one can tell me other wise

I was gonna get awesome to service it which will be due next March which will be a full service. They are pretty just as good as will stamp the book and they use genuine parts. Stealer said its ok to get serviced else where providing they use genuine parts. They suggested millers nano oil though with it being mapped.

Looking at suspension again. And I was considering the vw racingline

Springs as I would like a bit less pitch under haRd braking which tends

Unsettle the car yet I find once in th corner seems like there is a fair bit

Of grip. The vw racingline springs says it's same rate in the middle of spring but slightly stiffer towards the end so should make for a good ride comfort but better handlin when pushing hard

I'm not really that bothered about height so much as I don't think cupra

Is overly high. I'm considering just fitting a anti roll bar/ sway bar as

Alot say that improves the stock set up on other vag models might help with pitching maybe?

Nice mate, I would say let me know how you find it but don't, I don't want to be tempted

Yeah I think you're right, I've heard people say the 1.8TSI is good on stock clutch at stage 2 so remap should be fine

Yeah I'm looking at VWR/Eibach too as both seem to provide the best level of comfort with a slight drop (20mm VWR, 25mm Eibach)

KW V3's are over kill really unless you're a regular on the track.

On the Skoda Fabia vRS the Eibach Pro springs were a factory dealer fit option (so no warranty issues).I had them and would say they were a worthwhile improvement and didn't make the ride too harsh.
As you might expect the drop is on the lesser side, about 20mm, I think.
Don't see any reason why they not be OK on an Ibiza.

Eibach

Just a note on these springs. Was looking on the eibach Website and

It says springs for ibiza cupra 1.8 tsi are not compatible with the leveling /control dampers and you may have problems with a fault on dash. I know awesome did say they can program the dampers for new springs maybe that's what you would have to do? Not sure I know eibach sell that pro-tronic plugs that over ride the control dampers but that means they won't work at all?

I'm wondering if the vw racingline ones will be the same yet it says they are compatible with acc dampers

I'm still thinking the dampers will need programing??

Dunno what to do now

That's not ideal! If that's the case with any lowering springs I'll be leaving it, not worth the hassle, I'm only in it for the aesthetics and some slight handling improvements after all

However if VWR's are compatible without any reprogramming I'd be interested as they'd be my first choice. Haven't done any further research or asked any questions on it as I just bought a MacBook Pro and we all know how much they cost :-o

Vw racingline springs

Well finally got round to fitting the rear springs on cupra.

Vw racingline springs. Haven't had chance to tackle the front yet

Working all day:cry:. But thought I'd wizz the rear ones on tonight as fairly easy to do.

Well so far looking good I thought. I think its lowered about 20mm which

Doesn't sound like much but I think it makes a huge difference even in looks and the seems to be slightly firmer but not overly harsh still its hard to say till I get the fronts on as to whether comfort will suffer but I
Think it will but its bareable

I don't want it really low as I just find that silly for every day driving with road conditions and bumps pot holes/speed bumps

I definitely think the handling is goin to be much better from pitching om braking and will be flatter in the bends

Few pics. Sorry they ain't brilliant was rushing and I took some in dark to tonight .... As you can see front looks higher than rear now and looks

Squat on slopping drive. Once fronts are on should look nice I think

Anyway let me know what you think  :whistle
