My daughter bought her
Ibiza new from them in 2009 and was happy enough to use them for
servicing for the first few years, moving to Western SEAT Colinton when her time became more important than anything else. They seemed to be okay, but their land was too highly valued so Western closed that franchise down, her Leon Cupra that she picked up on Wednesday, came from Uncle Arnie's motoring emporium - now knock them if you like, and I was someone that knocked them, she dreaded going to talk to them about a Leon Cupra but it was them that had some around pre-reg'd, so bought from them, but when respectable Western SEAT could not solve that 2009
Ibiza's battery draining issue, and I was trying to get them to consider it was a BCM S/W issue, and just take money out of my pocket for investigating what was a nasty
problem, and quickly replaced an expensive part, which solved nothing, then Western SEAT shut up
shop before they could resolve it, I shuffled off to AC SEAT Seafield and chatted with them, the
service guy said right away that they had sorted out a similar aged Polo that had that issue, so they had a open mind to this possible BCM S/W issue - checked the car over, requested
help from SEAT, got provided with a reference to a S/W patch and stuffed it into that car -
problem solved. So I would say that AC SEAT Seafield are okay to use.
For myself, having a 2011 Audi S4 and wife has 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI SEL, I would not go past either AVW in Liberton, they sorted out my car when I needed to get Component Protection removed when I updated the radio to a DAB version, my daughter got her second cambelt work done there, prior to that as a family we used to go up to Star Performance in Dysart who are good Indies but a few miles away. Also I've heard good things on the Audi forum about AutoHaus at the former Bilston Glen pit complex, if I get very lazy, I might visit them to replace some front end lower arms on my S4, and maybe even for a cambelt replacement on the Polo when the time comes, or return to AVW.
Edit:- a pity about Rutherfords, I think that my daughter used them once.
Another Edit:- while all the indies I've mentioned use VW Group parts for
servicing and cambelt work etc, there will be some tasks that they will buy the same parts but from the manufacturer that supplies the factories in the case of suspension arms, and the usual brake parts stuff that most DIYers use.
