I have been lucky enough to have owned a 8v GTI Ibiza and 2 Leon Cupras (X plate and 51 plate) but none of them give me the joy that my 16v does, country roads which wind and bump are great fun, cant do that in a Leon if you ask me. . . .

Does anyone else agree the only place to have maximum fun in a SEAT is behind a wheel of a Ibiza Cupra 2.0 16v (espesh mine)

I thing it also gave me more fun than an Leon Cupra R.

it's because the 16v rewards spirited driving.

you have to work at it to run well on a twisty variable speed road making you feel involved rather than leaving it in 4th & letting the torque pull you through.

yup the 16v keeps giving to the redline which is fun, but takes a while to get there after 2nd gear, i loved mine. i think im going to try putting a bigger turbo into a leon, itll totally outstrip the 16v for thrills when it revs right round too...only a lot quicker!

yup, gotta agree that the 16v is a more 'spirited' engine than the 8v...

The 2.0 8v's great for commuting/town driving etc, nice and torquey. But it's pants when you want to give it a thrashing on some open country lanes, keep needing to drop it down a cog to get it shifting.

makes me feel better about spending out on the engine in the next few weeks now :)

I enjoy giving it a thrashing but does hurt when you see your mates Mk3 Cupra pulling away on the straights.... have to see about that soon I think

Well said Mork, i remember the days without my trusty turbo to pull in the same gear. Had a xr2i 1.8 16v that was great fun down the lanes here in Devon untill a tractor came the other way(my brakes where shocking).:scary:
Do miss it
Drove a Civic type R Yesterday car was great to drive but the one thing a missed was the torque the turbo does to a car, last few cars have been turbo's i'm going to find it hard to give it up.

Its great to have a choice.Got a 16v & a 1.8t.Before modding the 1.8t would love to take the 16v out for a spin, bit unfare to compare now its got about 100bhp more.Must agree about the 16v beeing driven to the redline,it still makes me shiver with the noise from the Green filter! It spends most of its time locked away in the garage but when it comes out its fun.
