Hi guys,
I need to change my front brakes (pads and discs as ive glazed the pads  and the discs have corroded badly)

im not going stage 2 until next year so for me the 312mm will be overkill so im looking for a decent 288 setup (£170 for the pair max) suitable for a bit of track abuse so fairly fade resistance:

The discs im looking at are:

Original Discs (£80),
Brembo Performance (£75) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....092026&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3654wt_775
Brembo Max (£90) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....761923&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3429wt_775

and the pads:

Original (£40),
Yellow Stuff (£90),
Ferodo (£42) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-IBIZA-Mk...CarParts_SM&hash=item335db0664e#ht_3136wt_948

any opinions on the stuff above about if they are any good and what the best combo would be.

cheers

to be honest mate go 312mm it wont be overkill as i think the 288 set up is not good enough for a stage 1 map...

i got my calipers and carriers for 100 quid from the TT shop in bedford..havent fitted them mind but I have them there to be fitted in the future...then i will get TT discs and pads..

if you did want a set of 288, i j4st have some i will be looking to sell.

Tarox sport japan disc - and pads if u needed them to (pm me).

anway they are great i thought. but didnt mean to turn this into a sales pitch!!

I think the 3.2 TT brake setup is different to the 1.8 225 TT. I remember looking at a 3.2 TT and thinking that the calipers looked different

in what way??

now i could be making a mistake here but iirc in 2006 the only MK1 quattro they did was the 3.2

They are different yes, most people get the 1.8 calipers because the V6 ones don`t fit under 16`s allegedly .

I'm surprised that so many people think there is a problem with 288s?
I can only presume its due to fitment of poor pads?
Go for DS2500 pads and any good quality disc

Nope, the 1.8T 225 had Quattro as standard.

cheers, if only i had read the post sooner would have saved me the worry, i emailed the seller again and he confirmed it was a 1.8T so problem solved, in fact they have arrived

i think its down to feel, i'll be able to "gocompare" as of wednesday, personally the 288's were fine, but since my cars mapped i couldnt really push it, as knight said as well 312mm will give beefier stopping power especially on the track

i have just bought a set of porsche 16" d90 wheels and i am pretty sure that the tt brakes dont fit under them, just wondering if my original 288 brakes with grooved discs and good pads will b enough? what other options have i got? 302s brembos from the mk3 cupra mayb?

Ive just had grooved and uprated pads on the front, stop salot better than it did before, good pads and tyres will make a big difference.
