Had an auto electrican out to look at my car today, because when i last took my car to be serviced at Jabba sport they couldn't run diagnostics after because they said they couldn't communicate with my ECU!
Anyway the auto electrican came to look at my data port to see what the problem was......after alot of failed attempts at communicating with the ECU, trying everything he could we decided to give up.

He then came to the conclusion that my Can Bus Interface is knackered ( something i've never even heard of) and said its a very expensive thing to replace and only Seat would be able to do it

Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem or knows of any other way to resolve it because i'm really not in the position to be forking out shed loads of cash to get it fixed and im desperate to have my car remapped...... Any advice would be HUGELY appreciated :)

If they couldnt communicate with your ECU how is it remapped by them?

Also I dont know if this is the same sort of thing but my mate had the same sort of thing and JBS decided that it was the ECU that was the problem and swapped it out and it was all fine

i think he said he went there for a service and they could access it. he wants to get a remap but he cant untill they can communicate with the ecu.

is it an option to take the ecu out and remap it old skool way?

Don't use CAN Bus on the MK3 Ibiza so it's not that.

Really.....so this auto electrician has no idea what he is talking about then??

Is taking the ECU something Jabba would do??

Revo do it though, don't they??

I was really wanting a Jabba Remap because i wanted it set up on the rolling road, rather then havin a generic map!

Come to think of it, it could be something to do with the ECU because when i bought the car it came with the ECU from a Cupra R! The bloke i brought it off though said this was put in as an extra from factory....but i have no way of seein if it actually has got 180 bhp without getting it on the rolling road, so he may of just been talkin bollox!

You haven't put a different head unit in have you?

Ever since I've had a different HU in I've had to take out both the radio fuses to make VAGCOM work?

Although I would have thought an auto electrician would have checked that kind of thing.
