the turbo blew half away around a roundabout, but engine didnt runaway. I turned the engine off after realising it was clouding with white smoke behind and pulling off into a lay by. so couldnt have been running for more than 15 - 20 seconds after the turbo giving up. My question is. now that the dipstick isnt showing a oil level at all. is it likely the engine is now nackerd as a result of oil starvation? i havent started it since. thanks.

Tbh you'll probably be alright

only way to find out is to fit a new turbo refill the oil and see what happens

Sounds stupid but that happened to mine. Oil shot through the exhaust and it did kill the engine. When the turbo went something went into the engine , bent all my rods , then spat the oil out. Not sure of all the technical bits as just gave it to my Machanic . He took the head off to show me the mess it had made inside.
Maybe cheaper to do that then buy a new turbo.

Fill oil and start to see if engine sounds ok and go from there.

Disconnect the turbo pipe that goes into the intake when starting incase it revs up on itself

Do not start the engine until you have Removed the inter cooler lower pipes and drain excess oil out of the inter coolers before you start the engine after a turbo failure other wise it will end in tears, and run up on oil....
