Bluetooth OBD II

Hi,

Just bought a £15 bluetooth OBD II unit from Amazon and mostly happy with it.
Gives good live data to an old Android phone of mine which I am in the process of mounting in the car.

Only issue I'm having is that it doesnt seem to report all fault codes to the phone app.

I currently have an issue with power loss in the turbo (possibly due to a dodgy temp sensor) but the OBD and/or app reports nothing.

Does anyone know if these cheap OBD's only report a minimal set of fault codes?

Or should I just take it to a dealer ($$$) and get it checked there?

It won't be the obd2 unit, the app will be the limiting factor if it's not reading all codes.

I'm using torque plus. Do you know of any other better apps?

I don't think there is any better mobile app than torque. Your other options are VCDS / VCDS-lite on a laptop or a code reader.

I can't vouch for the code reader as I have never used one, but at around £30 it's a fairly small risk. I believe you can get VCDS lite for free which should read all codes (but not clear them), but you would need a laptop and a compatible ODB2 lead.
