Bonnet Chips

Having now had my Flash Red Leon Cupra TDI 2 weeks it seems the dealers nice chipstick work is starting to wear off leaving me with extremely annoying chips all over the front of my bonnet. There is also a dent on the hill of the centre of the bonnet. Annoying thing is the car only has 32k miles. Now im a perfectionist that gives the car alot of tlc (wash twice a week , wax every month type of person, i like my car looking its best) So im going to see about getting this sorted. Not sure if im right but arnt body shops extremely expensive? or would i be better to just keep a look out for a replacement bonnet that is in better condition?

also, my exhaust tip is black and seems to be quite dense stuff stuck to it. Cant seem to get it to shine up. Any tips on this ? 1.8t petrol models probaly dont have this problem id imagine.

A bodyshop may be expensive, but at least you're getting a quality job. Well, from a decent bodyshop you are anyway. I had some work done on my old car at a bodyshop I chose as the price was much better than others. After seeing the work and how long it lasted, I understood why it was cheaper than others!

Now though, my Leon has just come back from a different bodyshop after having a complete respray and the quality is spot on and they offer very good support should I find anything I'm not happy with. Cost more (luckily I'm not paying) but you can see where the extra money has gone.

As for the exhaust, you can use a combination of products to get it shiny again. Autosol is good, as is Meguiars metal polish. But if the crap and grime is really stuck hard, you might be better using a wire brush and some wet-and-dry sand paper first to get rid of it, and then polishing it to remove any marks left by doing that with some Meguiars stuff.

I have something similar to this on my Elise (armourfend).

I had it as my 21 way flip can not be touched/blown in and costs £650 a ltr for the colour + base + secret ingredient + UV filter clear (£7,000 for complete job), so want to keep it relatively chip free.

NB you will still get chips where the film ends and een through th film.

I would not/ have not bothered with standard colours, cheeper and better to get them blown in every few years
