Has this worked for anyone, and will it open holding the open button with key( the same way all the windows come done)? Or just using the normal boot release, and the stronger struts lift the boot lid automatically?

Thank you,

Kenny

As above. No other mods required just press and hold the boot button on your key and the force of the new struts opens the boot on its own.
Anybody else feel like God doing this? just walking to your car and opening the boot without touching it. It's my party trick.

The service manager at my local dealer was that impressed he asked me where I got them from.

 I'm buzzing thinking about my Leon doing it.

Hi,

Anyone done this on an ST yet? Is it just the same struts needed or heavy duty fancy things?

Another satisfied customer here. Just fitted mine, took 5 mins. Thanks for the info everyone.

Is that possible? It amused me slightly when I got my car that it didn't have them.

I got my bonnet set from some guy in Russia - cost me £30 (including VAT) and they were installed in about 3 minutes.

The hardest thing I came across was removing the bonnet support stick thing (I’m sure there’s a proper term for it!). But a Stanley knife to the rubber grommet sorted that stubborn bugger out!

Fitted my boot struts last year, but have a slight issue, the boot will only open on the key fob, the manual boot catch doesn’t work? Is this a setting thing ?

Do you have any pictures and a link to the struts?

Hi...am I right in assuming the one quick press on the keyfob will open it as it does now and only a sustained hold will propel it skywards...only asking as I have quite a low garage and well you can guess the rest.

Just fitted mine and work well. I quickly realised its a lot easier fitting the bottom part of the strut first.

Is there still nothing for the ST yet ??

I also bought the Stabilus struts previously mentioned on ebay, took 5 minutes to fit and they work so well.

It does make it pretty hard to close the boot though, you almost need both hands! But worth it for the opening all the way when holding down the boot release button on the key fob.

As already mentioned it is easier to fit the bottom first then the top, I held the boot up with my head when fitting which wasn't a problem!
