Hi folks,
My Arosa boot lock will not open using the key.
So a few questions:-
Is it possible to open the boot from the inside?
How do you remove the inside plastic fittings mouldings to access the lock fixing nuts etc?
If it's just a dodgy barrel is it easy to fix and how much or would it be easier to take it to a dealer?
And finally can anyone recommend a good garage for Arosa in Hertfordshire UK?
Thanking you all in advance.
P.S. One last question; does a boot which will not open fail the M.O.T?

I had a similar problem with my Punto and a bit of WD40 sorted it out. I thought it was something more serious but, it was ok. Obviously you need to get it open 1st :(

I just had to have mine fixed. It was a solenoid and the garage I bought it from paid for it. When you have tha tailgate open feel down the plastic part beneath the window and there's a screw either side that undoes and lifts the big plastic panel away to get at it. You can't see them as they're hidden in "dips". Not sure if that's what will be your issue as mine worked with a key still but not the central locking. But if you have a fiddle you might be able to sort it yourself or spot a loose part.
I've never known a boot lock to be checked as part of the MOT, or any lock, actually.

Ooops-meant to say you'll still be able to get at it from the back seat but it's a bit more awkward.

I'll try the WD40 suggestion but after that I guess it's a trip to the dealer as I don't how to take the trim off without the boot open.

get a number 10 & 20 torx

1) Remove the boot trim by first removing the two no. 20 torx screws on the inside of the recessed pull handles
2) Unclip the bottom of the trim by pulling outwards, and free the top by pulling upwards

Not sure if it can be done through the rear of the car, or whether boot has to be open so apologies if its a boot only job.

Had this problem when I bought the car. The solenoid was operating but the complicated mechanism for releasing the lock was not aligning properly, but first you have to take out the hatch trim as coxw described. Then look at the solenoid and make sure this is operating ok. My problem was the solenoid was operating the mechanism but too far so I had to reduce the travel off the solenoid. It is tricky to resolve. If you can remove the trim panel and the solenoid is operating I can try and explain later. Bernie.

I had this problem not so long ago, the solonid was operating as it should as you can hear it go when pressing the keyfob but the boot wasn't unlocking or locking. After taking the boot trim off to get to the mechanism it was the actual solenoid housing that had simply come away from the bodywork thus the whole housing was moving so the solonoid arm wasn't activating the lock. The housing slots into 2 slots on the bodywork with screws that can be tightened slightly so when you slide back onto the bodywork it will stay put! It should become apparant when you get inside to look at it!
