ehm, last night i was pulling out of my drive and i noticed that none of my brake lights were working. My side lights were working fine but when i hit the brakes, nothing... even the third brake light above the rear window didnt work. I taught... ughh, blown fuse.

Anyway this morning going to work, magically they started working again... all three of them. Any taughts on what it could be?

Brake light switch needs replacing, behind the pedal. Take it to your dealer if its under warranty, do a search otherwise for how to change it - I think the part is about £20, and its not that hard to change, just fiddly and awkward.

sorry for the bump, but does anyone know how to change this?

From what I can tell some of the trim needs to be removed - but i don't know which bit and how.

Any help is great :) thanks

The sensor is actually above the pedal and not under it. When I replaced mine I just removed the trim from under the steering wheel to gain access. I'm crap with a spanner and it took me about 30 mins. It was a long time ago and I can't remember the actual steps to take sorry.

BTW - The switches click into place and it is very easy to break the retaining pieces of plastic so don't use too much pressure.

thanks - I've been having a look and I can't find the switch, so assume you really have to remove the trim.

I've got JKM on the case now - they are going to source a switch for me :)

Had mine fail on the M25 with missus and kids on board!
Thankfully M25 was at normal operating levels so was only crawling round at 10mph, ended up with a police escort off.
Got a replacement from GSF, about 9 or 10 quid and as Elastic Tangent said above they're a bit fragile and fiddly to fit, crap design for something that I would consider as 'fairly important'. You'll need torx bits for the trim removal.

Well the 2nd vwvortex link in PABS 3rd post of this link you posted earlier (I think ) tells you all about the switch replacement part.

As for the lower dash removal the principal of removing the side panel and then the lower dash panel as shown in the 1st vwvortex link applies, without the fuse panel bit. Torx bits are required.

Hopefully you've got the A type switch, which Seat have apparently gone back to, which looks considerably easier to replace then the B, C or D type.
