brake pad wear advice

firstly, excuse my stupidity i am not that great with mechanical things but have been told otherwise from what i think is correct!

My mate had a snoop round my car earlier and suggested i changed my front pads as they were on the limit, i had a look and thought otherwise but to be fair he knows a bit more about motors than me! i have tried to take a pic (hope you can make it out!) could you let me know what you think?

i dont mind getting the pads changed but dont want them down to the metal and for them to take the discs with them! thanks in advance and sorry fro the silly question

from the looks of tht pic mate i would say they are ok, if they were fitted properly the wear indicator should come on before they do damage

Yeah, seems ok to me as well, although that is only one pad out of four. Check them all to make sure they're wearing evenly.

that looks like the outer pad, check the inner pads too (they wear faster) but it looks ok from what i can make out
