Dudes, any help would be appreciated.
Mk 1 Leon FR TDI. Have this noise sounds like a rattling/scrape type sound hard to hear over road noise. Thought it was a rear wheel bearing but there is no play at all in the wheels (front or back), I've tried spinning the wheels as fast as I can and there is no rattle from them, or vibration.
However, it seems both rear brakes 'catch' slightly on rotation (they still spin very free), but to make a noise as they spin round as one part of the discs catches the pads. I'm wondering if this is the cause. Happens in a straight line (or turning) 20-50 mph, clutch in or out (so not engine related). And still there while breaking. Dose'nt get worse on turning, or revving for the matter....
I've replaced the pads and discs on the back really recently with Pagid parts from ECP, so its not like they are worn, and the noise is still there. Tyres are less than 6 months old Vredstein Ultrac sessantas, so its not that either. Shocks don't seem to be leaking from what I can see. Pretty mystified to be honest.
Had a garages check for wheel bearings and brakes and they could not find anything.
Could the slightly catching brakes cause this noise? And why would the new discs and pads still catch? I've cleaned and reseated them so many times I can do it one armed, and blindfolded trying to fix this!!
AAARRRGGGH! Doing my coconut in.
