Brembo stickers?

This is my first post so I apologise if it's a bit of a daft one............. after picking up my LCR I noticed a clear sticker on my front brake callipers over the brembo logos and as it was half coming off i decided to help it on its way. This has now left me with a load of sticky adhesive on the calliper which is now black with brake dust & not looking too pretty.
I'm considering having a go at it with some lighter fluid as this is normally good for adhesive labels however i'm a little concerned about the affect it will have on the red paint work of the callipers. Has anyone tried lighter fluid before or got any tips?
Thanks.

Are you sure it was a sticky clear label and wasn't actually the lacquer peeling off? Lacquer problems are very common on Brembo brakes, not just on the LCR but on other cars too.

Look in the Leon Mk1 section as there is a really good guide that was posted recently that shows you how to refurbish your callipers so they come up looking like new again. It's a fairly straight forward DIY job, so check it out :)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I've just been out to check and they are definitely stickers (the car's not had any previous private owners so maybe it's something the dealer should have taken off?). I'll have a look through that report you mentioned and see if there's any clues. Thanks again.

If in doubt, take some pictures and post them up. I'm sure somebody will have seen it before. I'm still fairly sure that it's lacquer though, as that looks like a clear, slightly hard, layer of plastic that can be picked off in pieces. It also tends to go a bit white and frosty looking underneath sometimes.... does that sound familiar?

Just to let you know after an afternoon outside in the sun the 'sticky' problem has been resolved. I used some paper towel dipped in lighter fluid to simply rub the adhesive away on the brake calliper and it's come up looking great....although i can now see a laquer bubble that you mentioned but it's no way as unsightly as the black mess that was there. Once i'd done one i couldn't leave the others and i couldn't have clean calipers on a dirty car so she's now fully polished and gleaming.....i think i'm becoming obsessed  but i'm chuffed i've done it :D thanks again for your advice
