I picked up this LCR from eBay on Friday

This is replacing my 1988 Honda CRX (currently for sale if anyone is interested

It is completely standard with some sensible reliability upgrades (done by the previous owner)

New Vredestein Sessanta tyres all round
Disc skim and fresh Ferodo DS2500 pads
New Forge turbo inlet pipe
New genuine latest diverter valve
PCV delete and n249 bypass
New genuine pancake valve
Sump removed and cleaned and oil pick up pipe replaced for peace of mind.

Plans for now are to just drive it and enjoy it, but I may consider a stage 1 remap.

I'll get some proper pics up when I get a chance to take them with my camera. Phone pics don't do it justice unfortunately.

I do kind of miss the kick I used to get from cars with a narrower power band, as the power delivery is very sedate considering how much power this car has.

Perhaps a stage 1 remap will sort this out.

I agree. Also considering a remap but need to sort other things first, such as a new tip and cat-back.

Think I'll just do 80mm TIP + air filter on mine, then remap

Had some issues with the car taking 10 mins to warm up, and then the temperature backing off.

I guessed it would be thermostat related, so changed it yesterday.

Real pain in the bum, this job! But glad I did it as the car warms up in half the time now, and stays bang on 90c.

Got a few more MPGs out of it today which is a bonus.

Just need to drop a bit of coolant out and top up with some G13 concentrate, as I had to use water yesterday.

Also snapped the dipstick handle so got another on the way.

Next plans are to get a spare key sorted out, then some basic mods.

Made a start on upgrading the audio system today. I have some parts that I removed from my CRX which thankfully are a good fit for this car.

I used an Autoleads speaker adapter kit to fit some Hertz Dieci DSK 165 components in the front doors.

The crossovers slotted nicely against the window regulator motor. The woofers are slim enough that they easily clear the glass, and the 1" tweeters were hot melted into the OEM locations.

A very good upgrade, no distortion at decent volumes and loads more bass. Will sound much better when I install an amplifier!


I built up some hot melt similar the the OEM tweeter surround to slot them in place.

Then I hot melted all around the gaps to seal the tweeter in place, its rock solid.

Woofers installed

Crossovers soldered into the speaker input.

The sub and amp will be next, possibly tomorrow if I have any motivation.

Nice car bricktop. Chuckled when i read how standard it was, then took bearly 60 seconds to read through the mods

These babys look good a few inches closer to the tarmac, other than said stage 1, not much needed past what you already have.

I won't be lowering it, it handles well and hits the splitter on the floor enough as it is.

This car will not become harsh or wild as I use it every day. I just sold my 88 CRX because it was too compromised.

Some more power, a little noise and I'm pretty much done

Got my sub and amp installed at the weekend, finally have some decent sounds!

Pity there is always a trade off with lowering. Already an iconic car.
