Earlier today, I had a puncture near side rear, and when changing the wheel, I found the rear coil spring has broken at the bottom end, as it sits in the retaining cup. Costing £30 for a new spring, from Euro Car Parts, and £20 to fit.

I know it's not going to break the bank to repair, but has anyone else had this with the Leon? Is it a common problem, or at least one that is not unknown?

Thanks
Mike

Yes has happened to mine, just like a half inch broken off the bottom coil. Cost me £17 for a new one fromm the factors and took litterally 2 minutes to fit.

£20 to fit jeeez 5 minute job.
Heard the fronts breaking before.

I know it's a lot of money, but I had an operation on my knee only last Tuesday, and it will be a while before I can even think of doing the job myself.

Bloody typical -- very first day back driving after a week, and I get a puncture.......

Mike

PS It sounds like the same, just the last little bit broken off at the bottom.

Fair enough mate, i got knee problems amongst other things so get mates or daughters b/f to do mine :D

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks Lee, very much appreciated.
I went in to get a cartilage sorted out, but ended up having a fatty growth removed, that was pushing my kneecap out of position.
I reckon I've done just a bit too much today going out in the car. Knee's swollen up like hell and gone really sore. Sat here at computer with ice pack on leg!

fronts are very common on both leons and ibizas due to steadyly worsening road conditions and the introduction of speed bumps on almost every bloody street.

Rears still break at the end of the day but a least they're nice and easy to replace.
