burning smell

fitted a new downpipe an decat an since then get a burning smell. is this normal.

how long till goes away

sounds normal to me. i had this on my fiesta st, i did the works, manifold decat and cat back. i think what u can smell is the exhaust paste they use when fitting exhausts. should go soon

had decat on before but this is a bigger decat an downpipe. would they smell cause its new an how long normally take for an exhaust to bed in an get coated inside to make sound deeper?

Not necaserily a burning smell but you tend to get a rich fuel smell from a de-cat if its burning id worry lol.

The funny smell sounds to me like the preservative oil/grease they use when they manufacture the exhaust in the factory burning off. Should be gone in a hundred miles or so.

Had this on a maniflow exhaust i baught for my metro turbo years ago!!

i hope its this as worrying me, itdidnt look like had any preservative on it though

my downpipe and cat did it when i had it fitted years ago,just the paste or sealent or whatevers been used to put it together when fitted.

go kick its head in and all should be well,mine was after about 20mins of abusive.

Holy thread resurrection batman!

Hi. I'm new here and to the world of lcr's.

My new lcr has that new exhaust paste smell. It's also got a decat and miltek system. But it's been fitted for 1000s of miles.

Any idea why?
