Buying a Toledo, ECU worry.

Hi, It been two years since I posted here. Then I had a Leon. I have since had an Accord but a move to the country and a 50 mile round trip commute has promted me to get a TDi. I have seen this car, tha red 53 reg toledo 1.9tdi 12 cars down on link below...

Which seems to fit the bill.

I have heard about problems with a particular ECU on 110 bhp vag DTi cars. I have checked with the garage and they tell me the one fitted is part number 038906012HD. Does anyone know how I can tell if this is one which may be affected?

Also out of interest what would a good price be for that car for?

Thanks

Craig

Can't say i've heard of ECU problems on the 110. Have you tried searching on here to see if there are any related posts?

If your buying from a dealer then it should come with warranty and shouldn't be an issue if there is a problem

I found this on honestjohn.co.uk....

Toledo TDI 110s could also suffer same ECU problem as Golf Mk IV TDI 110. VAG acknowledges a fault with the ECU (038 906 018 BM) and specifies an upgraded unit (038 906 018 GQ) at £695.00 + VAT. According to VAG technical, this problem will eventually occur with all ECUs of this part number, so a second hand part may only be only a short term cure.

So the part number of the one Im looking at isnt one of the problem ones it seems.
