Hi all

After several years away from the Cupra.net forum I'm making a return:)

I sold my 2003 Leon Cupra R about 4 years ago and had a few cars since. I now have a 320d but I'm going to look at Leon FR Dsg tomorrow (I know it's not a Cupra!). The car will actually be for the missus, she is upgrading from her Peugeot 206 which she bought as her first car 2 years ago. We are having a baby and so want something a bit bigger, 5 doors, big boot etc. She also wants something a bit quicker and she has wanted an auto since she has been using mine, so the Leon seems to tick all the boxes.

I've driven the mk2 Leon before but only a diesel, I've not driven a petrol FR before and nor have I ever tried a DSG box. I suppose I'm just looking for guidance, is there anything in particular I need to be looking for on these cars in regards to noticeable issues or signs of upcoming problems etc?

The car is a low mileage example with full service history so I'm onto a good start but any pointers would appreciated:)

Many thanks

That's my feelings too, I've always felt Seat's are solid and reliable cars.

Definitely not expecting to get the same MPG as the 1.6 Pug, but the rewards will be worth it.

Is the 2.0 tfsi engine the same as that in the more powerful Cupra R? Is it mapped differently or are engine internals different too?

The fr has a different turbo, if you can stretch to a cupra do, totally better car, better brakes etc, and will map well over 300bhp

Could stretch to a Cupra but no need for it really, if the car was for me it would be but Jackie is nervous about having 200bhp, let alone 300bhp!

Even though I love my car I wish I got a cupra...

The FR in standard form is a very timid and feels quite flat to be honest, it will be fine. My other half has been driving less than 2 years and she manages my stage 1 mapped FR without issue.

If she had been driving longer and insurance costs weren't so high, i would have bought the Cupra without a doubt

The FR tfsi and cupra/R tfsi are on different turbos, FR TFSI is a ko3 and Cupra/Cupra R is a ko4 the cupra/cuprA R also has different engine internals, gearbox, brakes 310mm fr vs 345 cupra R, suspension etc.the petrol fr standard quite a slow warm hatch

The standard FR is a Golf GTI. They are quick cars, just not in comparison to the latest crop of mega hatches. I'm chuffed with mine
