I went 1 year old approved used (car was ex head office car) and I got a 102 point check, to be fair it was always my intention to modify the car (not to improve any particular feature) because I wanted something nobody else had (and i still have and still updating).

Had a few Brand new motors (all Company Cars) but could never take the hit when you drive home but to be fair My current motor will stay with me till it dies, when it does blow up / die I will buy myself a cheap track toy (like the MX5) and would be focused on what i could do to get better power delivery, track handling.

The VAG Group at this time have a lot of bad publicity with regards to the electronics setup of the new cars so either option to buy a car I would want to ensure I got a very strong guarantee.

I've done both, leasing is nice for keeping in new cars, but nothing beats the feeling of outright ownership.
Absolutely agree. Once I left dealer, I bought mine outright. That's 14 new cars since 1998. I looked on it as if things went belly up no one could the car off us and we could be immobile. Unlike some others I know whose 'posh' leased vehicles would suddenly disappear when things got iffy .
