took my car today to seat in swansea for a 50k service and they put a advisory on my cam belt i asked whether it was the condition of the belt or if this was a normal advisory.
They said it was just normal to advice this at 50k and is normally done at 50k, i asked wot the recommended seat millage was 120k, but he said they will pop before 120k! with modifying/remaping it must put more strain on everything but not the equivlent of 70k
wot has everyone been doin?
just paid 158quid for a service, i then they tell me its £160 for a cambelt sooner rather than later:(

Maybe an idea to get a metal water pump fitted at the same time. As the standard plastic ones are prone to fail and when they do the cambelt has to come off again, meaning another £120+. So for the extra £30-40 you may as well get it done now.

Modified cars are such money pits :(

We recommend doing the cambelt at 60k or ever 4-5 years. We do the waterpump as matter of course with them as they are such a weak link to start with, because if they go then you will basically have to the same job again

i got mine done at 36k due to the water pump failing. it all depends on how long the water lasts really. if it was advised and you can afford it, id say go for for it.

There is no specific interval for Mk 3 Ibiza, it depends on engine and age, early TDi's and SDi's for example have 60K interval, the later ones can be up to 90K.
Petrols should be instected from 60K and changed if required but definately by 110K or 5 years

Got mine changed at 60k, and got the water pump at the same time.

If you need either the belt or the pump changed, get both done at the same time! Trust me! I was advised that the belt didnt need to be done when the water pump was replaced. But then a year later the same person, happily changed the campbelt, and waterpump again!

I am due to be getting my 60,000 mile service done in the next month (its on61,000 and need to do it on around 64,000 as someone got the 40,000 one done a little late) but SEAT have quoted me £457

That would be £261.55 for the Cambelt and Tensioners and £195 for the Service

I did not know you needed to do the Water Pump as well?

Should i get that done at the same time? I am starting to get worried about driving it as im nearing this Service
