Been looking at one myself and i have settled on the snooper evolution £150 at your local halfords, it detects all fixed speed camera's, laser guns, tells you the speed limit of the road your on, only warns you when your breaking the limit and approaching a camera, comes with 6 months free updates and for a £100 you get a lifetime of downloads or its something like £5 a month direct debit ;) so thats what im getting pay day this month

Many thanks mate for replying so quickly, much appreciated. May take a look. ;)

I do infact also own a PDA (Dell Axim), and have TomTom 6 installed (GPS Satellite Navigation software). This also includes a very recent version of the UK Traffic Camera Database, so it alerts you as you are approaching a speed/traffic light camera. It's proved invaluable! [B)]

BUT... I'm quite interested in a passive device also, as GPS devices won't detect mobile cameras... ie: a mobile police camera van parked up somewhere, or Mr policeman with a speed gun!

All i would say about the laser detection is that it only detects the gun when its been pressed so if your first in the cue he's got you, but the snooper evolution has a best known sites database built in so it will give you the most common sites where camera vans hide out so thats just as good :)

i have the snooper s2 i think, works spot on for the fixed ones.... but unsure about the mobile ones (in tha vans etc)... unsure if they maybe werent pointing at me or not?

wouldnt mind investing in something that does the mibile speed traps!!

I've got an Origin B2 which I need to wire up in my car again after I took it out. It picks up most things and with the laser detector it even goes off when you have one of those pointing at you. It's not the cheapest of the lot out there though. :(

snooper s4 knows where the gatso's are via gps, this you update on your pc, so the more you keep it up to date, the more reliable it is

also doesmobile units etc .. via 360degree scanning (so picks them up from behind you, and can pick up radar scatter from up to 2 miles away, knows the difference between different camera's and tells you speed limit of road you are on if a camera is near

have a nosey on the snooper website
