Hello all,

It's been a while but the time has come when i require the services of people who know alot more than i do!

I have a LCR 210 52 plate. I would like a double din head unit, is this possible? If so is it easy or do I have to swap bits about etc when it becomes more trouble than its worth?!

Incase you are wondering why its because I have seen an awesonme double din android head unit where the front detatches and it becomes a tablet. I mainly want it so I can run the torque app on it and have lots of pretty looking guages and can monitor what my car is doing! It also is an in car accident camera, a reverse camera, tv, emails, internet etc. Some may say its too much but I love gadgets far too much!

Cheers again people!

It's possible, but unless you get a double din console from a breakers (they're like rocking horse sh*t) then you're looking at £300 from the dealers. It's possible to make your own but unless you're practical is it an option? It's a lovely idea but well expensive for what it's worth.

I like the idea of having torque app displayed and having it as an mp3 player/ gps/ tv/ Internet and even a reverse camera. But then again I like gadgets!!!

Yeh the double din version looks smarter, detaches aswel and looks a bit more well built. The cons are the double din conversion which is a cost. Single din is easy but not quite as nice looking and will get in the way of a few buttons but the screen folds down easily enough. I think for £246 delivered and no hassle the single maybe the way to go for me. I just hope it's of reasonable quality!

Hi Dan,

Do you find the screen gets in your way? I know it will get in the way of the buttons as that is inevitable but does it actually get annoying?

Not at all, as when I want to use the cup holder, it just motorises away, the kenwood has an adjustable screen angle so I have it so I can get my fingers behind it to do the heated rear screen, I prefer having the screen as it sits at a nice height rather than looking down slightly for a normal headunit, I have also put the handbrake wire for the unit to the headunit earth so you can watch films whilst driving which is nice for passengers or when I'm crawling in traffic on the M25

So I went for this in the end. Very happy with the android interface although the standard one for playing cd's etc is a bit tacky!

I wanted to run my torque app on it so I could have guages etc and also wanted it for the satnav. First problem I encoutered was the bluetooth is there but not linked into android system.... doh!!

It does on the other hand have wifi so im buying a wifi obd adaptor and linking that up for the app, fingers crossed it will work :)

It isnt an amazing system or set up but im pretty happy.

Oh and also im not happy with the blue leds so im getting a friend to open up the front and install red instead to match my dash.

Any updates on your connectivity. I got a head unit with a pop out screen and it does get annoying as sometimes I want to put the hazards on to thank someone and can't get to it haha, so use the old "stick my hand out the window" routine lol.

Let me know how you got on and if the unit is good. As I might want to replace mine.
