OK thanks mate.

Was shaping the switch panel easy?

I've got a spare switch panel which I will use.

Yea it's not to bad to do just take ur time. You have to cut a bit of the dash panel as well.
I plan on making another one for mine to make the fit better

Matty,

Thanks for your replies to my queries so far.

My unit has arrived, but there are only 2 external 'jumper' points. one has the jumper, the other doesn't.
The instructions for the box of tricks are not in English.
The switch supplied is also not a genuine VW, as I thought/hoped it would be.

The auto function works, but what I noticed is that when you remove the keys from the ignition, the dash lights & headlight warning symbol remain on and lights on buzzer sounds when you open the door. and the welcome home foglights are on, but they only seem to stay on for 10secs or less.

any help on setting up would be appreciated, as googling seems to turn up several different versions of this unit.

Thanks

Jon

Yea the switch with mine wasn't genuine but if you wanted I think you could change if for a genuine switch.

Yea my dash lights come on with the coming home lights and makes a noise when I open the door.

There is no way of extending the time that the lights stay on unfortunately.

the jumpers on the unit I had to remove mine so that the headlights come on instead of the fogs.

Hope that helps get some pictures up when it's all fitted

Hi Matty.

Thanks for your help.

I've done a lot of googling on this Auto light system, and came across this on UKMK4 FORUM.
Managed to get my leaving/coming home lights to stay on for 30seconds following method below (although it states 20 seconds)

Posted*19 November 2014 - 10:13 AM
Just a note.... My first kit with the red wire went faulty... I now have a new kit. No red wire (no connection to the indicators required). Only 2 Jumper connectors with only one jumper fitted (One closest to the main attached*lighting*loom to switch cable). The other jumper is advised to do nothing.
*
Instructions are different.
*
Needs to be done within 2 seconds with ignition or engine on....
*
Set Tunnel mode = Auto-0-Auto - One beep for set. Two beeps for off.
Set Side Lights = Auto-Side Lights-Auto - Beeps when set.
Set Main beam = Auto-Headlights-Auto- Beeps when set.
*
Only fitted jumper now changes which lights come on with the coming home/ Leaving home lights = Removing the jumper illuminates headlights only. Leaving the jumper illuminated the*fog*lights*as well as the headlights.
*
You can change the duration of the coming home lights as well. 20 seconds to minimum is 5 seconds.
*
Keys out...
Auto-0-Auto-0-Auto - (Side lights start to flash)
timer counts down from 20 seconds. When desired coming/leaving home lights on time is left out of the 20 seconds count down following the initial sidelights flash...
Auto-Headlights - Beeps to advise set
*
Picture shows the instructions that I stole from a kind person on here. These rescued me after the frustration of trying to set the unit with the old instructions. You would think that they would put English instructions in the box as well! Jumper No.1 as shown now does not exist!
