Cant really feel my turbo working

Finally got my new fr tfsi on wed. Obviously the turbo must be workin, cause it picks up speed quick enough, but i dont really 'feel' the turbo.
My last car was a remaped 1.9 diesel, and you could always feel the turbo kickin in real hard. i know diesels have lots more torque etc, but should i not feel this from a standard tfsi too? even if i start in "nd and floor it from idle, i still dont really get any sort of puch back into the seat that i used to, right through to over 5000rpm. But id say its still quicker acceleration than my diesel. Is this normal? thought it wshould have been a bit more...savage.

The turbo is the TFSi is very linear and you don't really feel a kick. I think it actually starts spinning from very low revs so you don't notice it kick in.

Older petrol turbos had a kick but not newer ones.

Yep, a very different power delivery between petrol and diesel.

plannin on a remap asap, just stage 1, one of the switchable ones me thinks. would that help give it a bit more kick?

I've got a petrol Fr too, the turbo effect is pretty smooth- there's not a noticeable lag or threshold. I think I can just feel the effect when revving from very low rpms through about 1500-1800 rpm, but its minor. I drove a 1.9 diesel leon as well, and its turbo lag and threshold were massive by comparison, it made me realise how much better mine is.

One thing you can do to check is (especially with the nice weather) drive with the window open and listen for the whine of the turbo spinning. Also, if you push the accelerator all the way down for a second or two at mid revs (so the engine's not too noisy), then lift off fully you should hear the pressure being released, indicating the turbo had managed to build up pressure.
