It's a bit weird platform sharing

Use to platform sharing in the Vag group this goes beyond but useful for comparisons.

The Tavascan looks much nicer, same car, and even the Ford Explorer nailed it I think, again same car, this looks a little awkward overall, seems forced design choices and the use of the capri name puts me right off, its just not even close to a capri

Back not on topic 🤣... the Elrog is the electric Karoq. Its a play on the name. Probably what an electric Ateca would be if we didn't have the Tavascan in the Cupra line up with the Seat range having a wobble. The same ID4 platform as the Tavascan, Capri etc.

The local Seat dealer did say an EV was coming, probably MK chatter on the dealer network. This is me saying they haven't relented on you being able to sell Cupras. What the reply was to that. Would be excellent news if they re modelled it for Seat as they re modelled the Ateca to the Skoda Karoq.

Still it's worth keeping an eye on. Some of us don't want to drive miles to a Cupra dealer.

The Tavascan has a far more refined and cohesive look—even the Ford Explorer version pulls it off well, considering they all share the same platform. In contrast, this one feels visually awkward, with design elements that seem more forced than thoughtfully integrated. And while reviving classic nameplates can be exciting, calling this a Capri feels like a mismatchit lacks the spirit and style that defined the original. Legacy names deserve a return that honors their character, not just a convenient badge.

On the subject of the electric Capri, agree it’s a a complete mismatch if the intention was to build a modern version of the original car.

I think Ford could do worse than looking at Renault to see how to make a very good modern interpretation of a 1960’s and 1970’s original. IMHO the design new Renault 5 EV and the forthcoming 4 EV are an excellent modern interpretation of the original designs and I think they’ll sell really well - especially to owners of the original 1960’s and 1970’s versions of those cars.

Seriously?

Agreed: the new Renault 5 looks fabulous. If it lives up to its expectations, it could be a game-changer.

From what I’ve read it’s selling really well and it makes a refreshing change to see some bold paint colour options being offered by a car manufacturer. The only real criticism that reviewers seem to mention is the limited rear passenger legroom for taller passengers - that wouldn’t be an issue for me as I very rarely carry rear seat passengers.

If I was in the market at the present time for a small EV it would be a very serious contender.
