Hi guys!

I'm left scratching my head with this situation. When I drive, doing between 50 and 70 in 5th and 6th the car seems to judder along. This isn't constant, it only lasts for a few seconds but it is really annoying!

It happens most often when I change from 5th to 6th and seems to be more noticeable when there are a few passengers/full boot!

I spoke to the garage that I bought it from yesterday and they seemed to disagree with my view that it could be the clutch slipping. Were they just fobbing me off or could it be something else that I am not thinking about?

The car is a fr tdi by the way, if that makes any difference!

Cheers

Adam

Not mapped as far as I am aware, I've only had it for about 9 weeks.

When you say rumble, how loud would you describe? This is my first diesel so it naturally sounds loud to my petrol head haha!

Lol, its quite a noticable rumble over the standard diesel noise, sometimes vibrates too. Was just thinking it could be the dmf starting to go? Its only in 5th and 6th? Is it below a certain rpm?

Is the dmf an expensive part?

I havent noticed it in other gears really, just 5 and 6.

I have also read that with some people it has been down to the fuel filter?

My FR does this too below 2000rpm if I am idle it rocks quite a lot and if I leave in NEUTURAL and rev it to about 1800rpm it bounces betweern 1700-1900?? It's annoying as it happens in every gear but not all the time. Seems to be more if I let off the power and get back on it slowly??

Sam

I discovered today that it happens in third also, I didnt try any other gears as I was in third at the time!

It doesn't happen all the time with me either! It does happen mostly when I take my foot off the power and back on too!

I think I will try replacing the fuel filter first, see if that makes any difference!

It did a service the other week but I didn't do the fuel filter because I got the wrong one :(

Could it be the coil pack or the glow plugs?

haha I didnt realise that there were not any coil packs on a diesel!

there are two different types of fuel filter that are available for the fr tdi, do I need to get the longer or the shorter one?

I know I bought the wrong one last time but I cannot remember which type it was haha!

Is your engine code a BLT engine? If so it could be the "BLT judder" mine does it at certain revs, just under 2000 rpm iirc. It's caused by the EGR valve, it's sure annoying but not a problem.

Yeah engine code is in service book, boot sticker and in the engine bay, it's a common thing between ibizas and Fabias with the BLT engine.

Let me know if the EGR delete helps please Sam, you getting it mapped out too?
