If the carpet mats in Cupra’s are the same / similar quality to those in VW’s (I suspect they are), then I’ve found the durability isn’t that great. For obvious reasons, it’s always the mat in the driver’s footwell that suffers most, and you can‘t buy just a replacement driver’s footwell mat.
With my last three cars (all VW’s) I’ve always swapped out the front carpet mats for VW rubber mats. I’ve not bothered with the rear mats as I rarely carry rear seat passengers. The rubber mats are much more durable, easy to clean; just give them a shake outside the car and quick wipe over and they look like new again. I quite like the utilitarian look of the rubber mats too. Also, no issues with soggy, muddy carpet mats which is something I hate and seems to be an ongoing issue as we head towards the winter months. Quite a few Golf owners on forums fit rubber mats during the winter months; I keep mine in my car all year round.
I don’t know if Cupra have OEM rubber mats for the Formentor, if not aftermarket versions are available that use OEM fittings to hold them securely in place.
What i have done in the past on a set of lupo gti mats has been to install a bit of aluminium chequer plate to the mat with rivits and mudguard washers on the rear. Means you get to keep the OE mat but covers the hole. Just where your heels sit
I had also the same issue. I posted here https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/velpic-mats.469870/
The previous Leon had some Velpic mats. There was no wear until 200 000km.
Sadly the Leon rear mats does not match the Formentors,1-2cm shorter.
I wanted to test the mats for the new Leon, but i had no time. Maybe you can try the following ones and share with us:
