electrical help/advice

This is a follow up to this thread

I'm now looking for ideas what to check now,

The car has had the immobiliser software removed and all faults removed from the ecu.
Another ecu had been used but the car still cuts out.
The ecu can be communicated with if the ignition is off but with ignition on it loses power which seems to be the problem.

Could it be a relay or earth problem?

Thanks for any replies.

Right folks, another update-

The ecu was full of checksum errors and hopefully these have now been cleared/sorted.

An auto electrician has been checking the car and found the fault to be the "k wire", there was a resistor and part of the track burnt in the instrument cluster and causing it to short to earth.

The cluster has been repaired and getting sent back to the garage who are hopefull when plugged in will solve the problem and let the car fire up.

i had this on mine i think, does it only happen occasionally? mine kicked in, thought about it and died, all it needed was some wd40 spraying on the leads by the plugs, happened when it was damp and sometimes very cold!
