Well a few days ago my car started and the cut out on me, The "car" with the "key" symbol came up, If i discount the battery then connect it then it works fine? I tryed both spare and main key but both dont work once the light flashs.

I know its an immobiliser problem?

sounds like the ECU is immobilising the engine - somehow take it to a seat dealer or a garage of some sort. Have you recently done anything to the car? Re-mapped?

Theres alot of people with the mk4 sport tdi had the same problem (me included) its a common fault with them, best thing to do for a temporary fix is to push and hold your finger on the 100mph sign before trying to start the car, turn the key with your finger still pressed on and the car will start (I learnt this little neat trick off a guy on here!)[B)]

The problem is theres a connector behind the clocks and the solder breaks on it causing the immobiliser to kick in, personally i have stuck to pressing on the clocks before i start and it works everytime!

Hope this helps !

So i have managed to recode the key like the Seat manual says. The way you do follow the instuctions i think you only recode the key in the ignition? As i tryed using the remote key (normal one) and it doesnt always work, So i tryed the spare key and then it worked fine.

So just going to give it a few days and see if is just the key and immobiliser problem.

you have just coded the key too the central locking and that has nothing too do with the immobiliser and ignition.
you have a lil transponder in both keys which is coded by seat and should match the immobiliser and allow you too start the car.

if you have a 6 dial dash thats your problem not the key, as people have said its a common fault and i have had my immobiliser bypassed to cure it once and for all.
