anyone seen these or bought one? wondering what the quality is like and if it fits ok? hes sold a few now.

well i did a bit of investigating work and emailed someone from ebay who had bought one asking about fitting etc and this was his reply......

"Hi mate would be glad to help. The finish of the bonnet is to a really high standard and does bolt straight on however when closed it still looks open. The pic shows the plate which i took off the bonnet so that i could elongate the slot to the right (on the picture) an also where up words on the left.This stopped the catch fowling. to get the bonnet to sit down tight to the top of the head lights i had to cut the bar off reduce it by about 5mm and weld it back on this allowed the bonnet to lock in a lower position. Hope this makes sense
but its just a case of seeing where the bonnet plate fowls on the catch and modifying the plate to suit. little tip put a small amount of paint on the catch and lower the bonnet until it touches leaving a paint mark on the plate. i also had to put a couple of small washers under the bonnet by the hinge cos the corner was a little low but in the end it fits pretty sweet."

hate to put a downer on things.... but what would the bonnet do in a front impact?

it wouldnt crumple and absorb like the metal one.

unless your concerned about weight saving, wouldnt it be easier to paint or find a carbon look graphic for your existing bonnet?

my LCR is black and id love some CF mirror covers to match.

try bending carbon fibre, unlike metal it springs back so it carries the energy instead of absorbing it.

hit a lampost... metal bonnet crumples . bonnet hinges havnt moved but the front of the bonnet has gone.

hit a lampost... carbon bonnet bends and then straightens itself, hinges snap and bonnet moves towards the driver. failing that the bonnet cracks and bits fly off.

you could contact ncap to see if they think it would change car accident safety?

carbonfibre behaves very differently to metal in an impact.

EDIT: apparently it shatters on impact. but there are stories of it slicing A posts too.

would the leon work better with a lighter front? i think the leons nose is light at silly speeds as it is.
