Right, I have decided that i need a carputer

Seems like a cool project to keep me occupied during the cold winter months.
I've been looking on Carmp3 site and have seen pabs' site which looks good.

However, like anything, forewarned is forearmed, so to those of you out there that have done this before or thought about doing it then I really want to know what i'm getting myself into

At the moment, I havent decided whether to have a fixed touch screen (go the double din route) or to have the touch screen that comes out of the head unit. can someone comment on this please? i'm not sure if i'd like the screen that far down the dash.
liliput are supposedly a good make.

I'm quite good with building computers so not bothered about that, it will probably run xp media center and some other software for the interface, just need a 12v PSU from carnatrix (or something) site, and it will be located in the boot.

the uses will be:
Sat nav
MP3's
div x movies (keep the wife quiet!)
maybe a TV tuner (just because i can)
rigged upto vag com so i just need to boot up the app (again, just because i can!)
wireless for copying music from home to car

My main issues are how i power the speakers and whether or not to go for integrated screen, or one that slides out of head unit

your thoughts as leon owners would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Friend at work says it's all quite possible.

You could power the speakers with an amp or the headunit.
Apparently the PSU to look for is a M2ATX.

Also for the touchscreen, if you go for a slide out jobby make sure its designed for carputer functions.
