The thing with TPFT is it's rarely much more expensive than FC, you're not covered for Windscreens & most importantly - should you drive into the back of someone you get nothing.

At least you'll get market value, less excess, less "buy back" as cash money.

When my 8v got duffed into I think they cut me a cheque for £800, and I kept the car. I wouldn't have got that if I'd been TPFT

OMG at the write off, i would have said cat D, if that! You should be able to pick the parts up off ebay or brakers for £200 easy then spend and afternoon fitting them. Job done.

Just got off the phone with the insurance company. :)
They finally valued the car at £1000 (after a little bit of haggling and a sob story from me).
So, minus salvage value of £70  and excess of £210, I'm getting a cheque for £720 and my car back :D. Looks like you were right Mork, being fully comp has worked out for the better.

Can't wait to get the old girl back and find out what's what.
And yes Olly, I've been scouring Ebay/breakers in readiness, so hopefully a few hundred pounds thrown at it and an afternoon or two swinging some spanners (and a big hammer) should see me right .

Crezz, thanks for the offers of bits. Will see what the damage looks like when I get her back home and stripped.
Unfortunately it has been marked as Cat C. Insurance guy was surprised but it's the age of the car going against it.
So here's to roadworthy, MOT'd and VOSA tested asap. Then on the lookout for Black Magic panels to complete the lazy makeover at a more leisurely pace :D
