cat to replace decat?

Just picked up my cupra r. Currently running 280BHP. Absolutely love it. Will get some pics up in a couple of days once waxed properly.

I had the code light come on a couple of days ago, which turned out to be the catalytic converter presumably due to the decat. It has a full miltek exaust with decat. Do miltek do a direct replacement sports cat to fit in place of the decat or is there a better option. Will need a cat for MOT time anyway, so chances are it will only make an appearance one month per year. How do you guys stop the light coming on with a decat?

Any tips would be much appreciated. :)

I'm in the exact same situation as you mate. With the Miltek system fitted with a de-cat pipe and a MOT looming.

From what I have researched the sports CAT system uses all the same fittings as the de-cat so should be a direct swap. BUT I haven't managed to find just the CAT on its own. It always comes as a package with the DP.

You can try contact Miltek directly and see if they will send you a sportsCAT only, from what I have gathered it would be around £500 quid. Iv not done this yet so I'm onli guessing. I'm going to a local exhaust fabricator and getting him to make me a sports CAT to fit at more than half that Miltek price, as like you I only want it for MOTs

Hope that helps you from what iv found out so far

Ah cool, not alone then. Yeah was thinking to take decat pipe off, buy a sports cat/pipe of similar diameter and have it welded to match. Any ideas if there is a lambda boss in this section?

Do you leave your code light on?

Oops I did read that and was going to answer your question there too.

The only thing I have found for the sensor is a adaptor that fits to the CAT then the sensor fits to that. This takes the sensor out of direct gas flow giving the sensor the impression that cleaner gas is passing it. This should clear the code. I'm using a fault code cleaner to do this myself once I fit the spacer.

Try in eBay lambda spacer, or I think awesome.com sell them draft42 is the company iv seen selling them.

But once a sports CAT is fitted you might not even need one, the code may go itself.

A lambda spacer is a very good idea. Ive got a VI monitor that has cleared the code, but it only cleared it for a couple of days. Will get a spacer on for now. Thank you very much. :)
