I would like a pioneer headunit ideally

A Panasonic player will work with a bit of messing to make an adaptor (just a few wires to splice)

Don't know why no-one makes these off -the-shelf but I could give it a go if you don't fancy it.

There may be other options ..... I'll see if I can work out a Pioneer option ;)

nice one

that would be cool

let me know

how much you looking at to make one up?

Spose you could buy another make of CD changer, or get an IPOD compatible HU and buy an IPOD, or get a HU that takes DVDs and burn MP3s on to it?

Head units easy! 2 slots at the bottom of the unit. Stick somethin flat and thin in both or get the proper removal keys from Hellfrauds (some have used jigsaw blades, spoons, screw drivers etc...) Make sure you have the radio code before you remove it though, unless your not bothered about it.

That link will give you a bit more info too![B)]

Cool!

Decided to buy a Pioneer HU this afternoon after feeling sorry for myself because I'm ill [B)]

Looks good with the red illumination. All I gota do now it replace the speakers, add a sub and a couple of amps, then I'm done!

Found the Pioneer changer interface

Need to see a picture really, but I refuse to believe it can't be made to work

...and that no other headunits can control the factory CD changer is rubbish -

Pansonic adapter

So electricity can only travel in one direction down these 12 wires if you swap the plugs

I understood it that these didn't exist! Cheers for sending me the link. Just signed up and will prob order one to test.

If it's got a bit of clever conversion circuitry, it perhaps won't work

but the Panasonic adapter (above) is made up of a straight wiring loom - find out which pin controls what and wire one up :)

Becker headunits have worked with VAG changers for a long time. In fact, a few months back I set up a Mexico Pro in a Polo GTi running with the standard changer. Worked a treat.
