Hey guys,

I brought my Ibiza GTI about a week ago and the central locking works when you are unlocking it, but when I have to lock it I have to do it manuel and use the key in both doors because it doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas???

If you read the owners manual it tells you that it does that in order to show its running out of battery!
Basically you need a new battery and then you need to reprogram it!

In the key hun. If you take the key apart to find out what batteries it needs.. Have a feeling it's 2 skinny round one's.. tesco sell them.

You should be able to programme it yourself - Well you can with vauxhall.

When you replace the battery in the key make sure the factory immobiliser is not armed or you'll be stuffed.

Basically it's best to do it when the car's unlocked with the doors opened. I changed mine without having to reprogram it.

Put the key in the ignition, turn it until the lights turn on. Leave it for a couple of seconds no more than 5 seconds! Then take the key out, hold down the lock button and press the unlock button three times! The led should now flash five times and the car should automatically lock itself!
It should now be programmed to your car!

If this doesnt work try it a few times! If not you can buy a second hand key off ebay for about 15 quid! or go down the route I took and a really snazy flip key!

Wicked thanks for that :D I'll try that when I get home, I take it you had the same problem lol. If not I'll have a look for the keys on eBay.

If it does work though I'll owe you one as locking the car manually is a right pain in the assss lol.

I have the reprograming procedure off ebay if anyone needs it? Not sure if it works but worth a try.

You just wasted a quid!
If you typed in central locking or key programming into the search on this forum or just in google, it comes up with that......for free!
Also I think its the wrong instructions for the mk2 ibiza! As I tried it before I got my new key!
